MiCA in the Nordics and Baltics: Who Has a Crypto Licence?

The transition deadline under the EU's MiCA framework expires on 30 June 2026. This guide provides a running overview of crypto exchanges and service providers across the Nordics and Baltics — who is approved and who is still awaiting a decision.

May 25, 2026

Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) is the EU's new unified regulatory framework for crypto services, replacing a patchwork of national licensing regimes. From 30 June 2026, all companies offering crypto exchanges, custody or other digital asset services in the EU and EEA must hold formal authorisation as a Crypto-Asset Service Provider (CASP) — with no exceptions. Operators without a licence by the deadline risk losing the right to operate across the entire single market. The Nordics and Baltics are among the highest-density regions for crypto operators in Europe, and the outcome of the licensing rounds will shape market structure for years to come.
