Another executive has left Bybit for Goobit. David Leeb now confirms that he joined the company in August and that he is working on its new venture Futureproof — the savings platform Goobit presented on Monday evening. Gustav Buder was hired from the same company earlier, as chief executive.

"My role is CMO and go-to-market, and I drive brand, product and marketing," Leeb tells Kaupr.

Left Bybit at about the same time as Buder

In a farewell post on LinkedIn in August, Leeb wrote that he had spent the past year on Bybit's Nordic business. He singled out the title sponsorship of the Stockholm Open tennis tournament as part of the work, and thanked Gustav Buder among others. He did not say where he was going next.

Buder led the same effort. Goobit announced on 14 August that he would become chief executive the following day. As Nordic Market Lead at Bybit he had established a dedicated Nordic team, led the work of positioning Bybit EU and the company's payment card in the region, and brought Bybit into the Stockholm Open deal.

The two left Bybit at about the same time, and both went to Goobit.

Joined a month before the product became known

Leeb says he has held the role since August, and ties it to Futureproof at Goobit Group, the company behind BTCX. The product combines bitcoin, gold and interest-bearing assets in a single savings product.

He therefore joined about a month before Futureproof was made public, and while the appeal against Goobit's MiCA refusal was still pending.

His title is given slightly differently in different places. Goobit's rights issue announcement lists him as chief marketing officer of the company, while he ties the role to Futureproof.

Website and waitlist are in place, the product is not

Futureproof has its own website and its own name, separate from BTCX. The waitlist opened on Monday evening, and there the company states that the service has not yet launched, that what is described is the planned design, and that details may change before launch.

The brand, the presentation and the route to customers are in place first. That is also what Leeb says he is responsible for.

Both subscribe in the rights issue

Both Buder and Leeb are subscribing with their own money in the SEK 25.1 million rights issue the board resolved on Monday evening. Buder takes part through AB XXI Capital and Leeb through a company, and neither is paid for the commitments. The terms and the dilution are set out in Kaupr's article on the rights issue. The company they have joined

Finansinspektionen refused Goobit's MiCA application on 2 July and the company has appealed. The appeal is still pending.

Goobit is launching Futureproof regardless, and says the planned commercial launch does not depend on the outcome of its own MiCA process.
