Nordic Blockchain Association is holding Dansk Blockchain Forum at Christiansborg, the seat of the Danish parliament, on Thursday 17 September, in cooperation with the Liberal Alliance party. It is the second year running that the event is held inside parliament. The morning gathers figures from politics, business, finance and research for a discussion of blockchain and digital assets. The framing is what is politically at stake, and what it would take for Denmark to capture the growth opportunities the industry points to.

From technology to growth

Nordic Blockchain Association describes this year's edition as a shift from last year's. Where the forum previously dealt with the technology itself, the theme this time is growth, job creation and earnings opportunities if the industry gains real political backing.

The tax minister speaks on crypto and taxation

Jakob Engel-Schmidt, minister for taxation and growth for Moderaterne, is giving a talk on crypto and taxation. Anticipation surrounds the speech, as Denmark has stood out in the Nordics with a tax policy unfavourable to crypto investments.

Tax questions also enter from two other directions. Mads Strange is a member of parliament and tax spokesperson for the Liberal Alliance. Nele Rickelt is a lawyer at ADVORA Law Firm and chair of the Danish tax lawyers' association, Foreningen af Danske Skatteadvokater.

Finance and developers take part

From the investor and platform side come Joakim Bruchmann, co-founder and chief executive of Pluto.markets, and Svante Hudák-Hildebrandt, founder of Ultrasound Capital. Mads Clemmensen, head of digital assets at Danske Bank, attends from the banking side.

The developer side is represented by Jacob Stenum Czepluch, developer advocate at Argot Collective, who works on the Solidity programming language.

Growth and establishment on the agenda

Freja Brandhøj is head of entrepreneurship policy at Dansk Erhverv, the business organisation representing Danish companies to policymakers. Lars Lin Villebæk is senior investment manager at Copenhagen Capacity, which works to attract investment and businesses to the capital region.

Jakob Mikkel Hansen, director and board member of Nordic Blockchain Association, takes part from the organiser's side. The list of speakers is not exhaustive.

Limited number of seats

The event is held in Danish. Seats are limited, and those interested must apply for a place through the organiser's form. Applications are assessed on a rolling basis. The official agenda has not yet been published.
