Circle is the American fintech company behind USDC, one of the world's most widely used dollar-pegged stablecoins. While competitor Tether is clearly largest in Africa, Asia and Latin America, Circle has focused on regulated markets such as Europe and North America. The company became the first global stablecoin issuer to receive an e-money licence under MiCA in 2024, and has been listed on the New York Stock Exchange since June 2025.
