With over $15 billion under management, Bitwise is now stepping into the Nordic market and challenging, according to a press release, established players with low fees, full transparency and a clear focus on institutional investors. The launch marks a new phase in Europe's fast-growing digital assets market.

Swedish launch and Nordic venture

Bitwise currently lists six exchange-traded products (ETPs) on Nasdaq Stockholm, including the flagship Bitwise Core Bitcoin ETP (BTC1). The product offers a management fee of just 0.05 percent -- a fraction of the Swedish market level of around 2 percent. The low fee is made possible by Bitwise's global scale and efficient management structure.

The Nordic venture is led by Marco Poblete, who has been working with crypto ETPs since 2018, along with André Havas, who has over 25 years of experience in the traditional fund industry.

Sweden increasingly important for crypto ETPs

“Sweden makes up a quarter of the European market for crypto ETPs despite its small population,” said Marco Poblete, Nordic Manager at Bitwise. He points to a growing institutional involvement in the region, where both investors and regulators are showing an increasingly mature attitude towards digital assets.

Bradley Duke, Head of Europe for Bitwise, describes the launch as a natural step in the company's growth strategy: “The Nordic region is among Europe's most mature and financially sophisticated markets for digital assets. Through the listing in Stockholm, we can offer both professional and private investors regulated products in local currency with the highest degree of transparency and security,” he says.

Focus on transparency and knowledge

All of Bitwise's products are 100 percent physically secured, meaning that the underlying crypto assets are kept in regulated institutional custody — so-called cold storage. All holdings are audited weekly by independent auditors, and investors can verify the company's crypto assets in real time directly on the blockchain.

Bitwise also operates a research center that publishes free analytics and reports on digital assets.

Stronger competition in the Nordic region

“We believe that education is critical to reducing risk in crypto investments. A better informed market player benefits everyone. The crypto market has historically been characterized by a lack of transparency — we want to change that. Our investors can verify our holdings themselves,” says Marco Poblete.

With record low fees, high levels of transparency and strong institutional focus, Bitwise sends a clear signal to the Nordic market: competition for affordable and regulated crypto exposure is intensifying.
