Swiss Bitcoin Suisse staffs up in the Nordics after MiCA licence

Six weeks after securing a MiCA licence from Liechtenstein, Bitcoin Suisse has named the Nordics as its first market. Ammy Edberg and Kristoffer Nystrom join as general managers at Bitcoin Suisse (Europe) AG.

August 5, 2026

Swiss firm Bitcoin Suisse obtained a CASP licence under MiCA from Liechtenstein's financial regulator in June, allowing it to serve clients across the EEA without separate national approvals. The licence sits with Bitcoin Suisse (Europe) AG, incorporated in 2018 and led by Roman Przibylla. When the licence became known, chief executive Andrej Majcen said details on individual markets would follow as the rollout progressed. The Nordics is the first market the company has now named.

Two management roles filled at once

Ammy Edberg takes the title of general manager for Sweden and the Nordics, while Kristoffer Nystrom becomes general manager for the Nordics. Both roles sit under Bitcoin Suisse (Europe) AG, and the two appointments were announced hours apart on LinkedIn.

Edberg describes the task as building and expanding the company's presence in the region alongside Nystrom. Nystrom writes that his appointment is part of the expansion, and signals that more information is coming.

A well-known Swedish crypto profile takes Sweden and the Nordics

Ammy Edberg is one of the more visible voices in the Swedish crypto scene. She is an influencer, public speaker and industry organisation leader, and is the person behind the social media profile "BTchick".

With Edberg, Bitcoin Suisse brings in someone with established reach in the Swedish market, not simply a sales hire. She points to family offices and wealth managers across Sweden and the Nordics having asked increasingly serious questions about bitcoin over time, and says she looks forward to connecting that interest with institutional-grade solutions and long-term client relationships.

That matches the client base the company already serves from Switzerland: wealthy private individuals with a minimum deposit of 50,000 Swiss francs, crypto foundations, corporates and institutional investors, each with a dedicated relationship manager. Bitcoin Suisse manages more than three billion Swiss francs in crypto assets and has over 200 employees across Switzerland, Liechtenstein, the United Arab Emirates and Bermuda.

Nystrom returns after time at Januar

Nystrom describes Bitcoin Suisse as the company where his crypto career began almost ten years ago, and highlights those years as some of the most professionally demanding he has had.

For the past three and a half years he has worked at Januar. Expansion into new markets is something he has long wanted for Bitcoin Suisse, he writes.

From licence to market

Two management roles filled in parallel points to a structured market entry rather than isolated hires. Even with the licence in place, questions remain over which products will be offered in the Nordics, which countries take priority, and when the operation goes live.

Neither Nystrom nor Edberg gives a timeline. Both signal that a formal announcement is coming.
