Nuvei is acquiring Payoneer for $2.75 billion to capitalise on a fast-growing market for cross-border payments. Together, the companies are expected to generate around $3 billion in annual revenue across more than 190 markets.

Cross-border payments are no longer just a cost businesses manage — they are becoming a service businesses can actively offer. This shift is driven by three converging forces: regulation is catching up with technology, infrastructure has become significantly easier to implement, and demand is rising. Nuvei and Payoneer represent two complementary parts of this market, with the goal of giving businesses a single partner to accept, hold and move money across borders — payment acceptance on one side, cross-border payouts, accounts in multiple currencies and banking connections with settlement across more than 150 markets on the other.
"The acquisition of Payoneer marks a defining step in Nuvei's evolution into a global financial infrastructure leader," said Phil Fayer, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Nuvei. "By combining complementary capabilities, we can offer businesses a more complete platform to accept payments, send funds, issue cards, manage treasury and FX needs, and access embedded financial services – at scale."
Nuvei will acquire all outstanding shares of Payoneer Global Inc. (Nasdaq: PAYO) at a total equity value of approximately $2.75 billion.
Upon completion, the companies expect the combined entity to generate approximately $3 billion in annual revenue and process more than $500 billion in annual payment volume for over 2.4 million customers.
The combination brings together Nuvei's payment acceptance capabilities with Payoneer's cross-border payouts, accounts in multiple currencies and banking connections — with same-day and real-time settlement across more than 150 markets. The combined company will serve customers on platforms including Amazon, eBay, Walmart, Airbnb, Fiverr, Upwork, Etsy, ByteDance, Shopify and WooCommerce.
"For two decades, Payoneer has earned the trust of millions of businesses in markets where trust takes years to build," said John Caplan, Chief Executive Officer of Payoneer. "Together with Nuvei, we will reach more businesses, in more markets, with a more complete platform."
A key component of the acquisition's value is Payoneer's established licences and regulatory approvals across major jurisdictions. The company holds a licence for payment services in mainland China and has received approval in principle as a cross-border payment aggregator in India under the Reserve Bank of India's regulatory framework.
Nuvei says the acquisition strengthens its ability to support emerging financial models, including agentic commerce — payments initiated by AI agents on behalf of users — stablecoin payments and financial services embedded directly into platforms. The goal is to enable businesses to move funds seamlessly across payment types, settlement networks and jurisdictions.
According to research firm Juniper Research, cross-border payments are expected to grow from $50.8 trillion in 2026 to nearly $63 trillion by 2030 — a rise of 24 per cent. Cross-border e-commerce is the fastest-growing segment, with value growth forecast at 54 per cent over the period. Juniper Research identifies stablecoins as critical infrastructure for making cross-border payments cheaper and more seamless.
