GreenMerc is moving Swedish Trijo customers' accounts to Finnish sister company Northcrypto, which holds a MiCA licence, as Swedish subsidiary Ijort Invest appeals a rejection from Sweden's FSA.

Under MiCA, a company licensed in one EU/EEA country can offer the same services across the whole union, through a mechanism known as passporting. For groups with subsidiaries in several countries, this makes it possible for one licensed company to cover multiple markets, even if applications in other countries are rejected. That is exactly what is now happening within the GreenMerc group, as the Swedish Trijo brand is moved over to Finnish sister company Northcrypto.
In an email to customers, Trijo states that on 30 June 2026, accounts and holdings will be moved to sister company Northcrypto Oy within the GreenMerc group, which holds a full MiCA licence from Finland's Financial Supervisory Authority (FIN-FSA). According to the email, the change should not be noticeable in practice: login, app, balances and trading history transfer automatically, and customers do not need to do anything themselves.
"Trijo remains exactly as it always has," the company writes, stressing that only the group company behind the brand is changing.
Northcrypto received its first MiCA authorisation in November 2025, covering custody and administration of crypto-assets on behalf of clients, as well as transfer services. On 26 May 2026, the authorisation was expanded to also cover execution of orders and reception/transmission of orders, according to a statement from GreenMerc. That makes Northcrypto a full-fledged crypto platform able to operate across the EU/EEA through passporting.
On 8 June, Ijort Invest, the parent company of Trijo, was rejected in its application for a Swedish MiCA licence. On 24 June, Ijort Invest's board decided to appeal the decision, and the appeal was submitted to Sweden's FSA on 29 June. The group is thus pursuing two strategies at once: appealing the rejection, while adapting to the situation by moving Swedish customers to the Finnish-licensed sister company.
