Bybit is ramping up in the Nordics with a new growth and relations team led by Gustav Buder, where former Safello CMO David Leeb and former K33 Head of Sales Jan Platou now take on key roles in the company’s Nordic strategy

Leeb (left in the picture) has been in place in Bybit for a couple of months already, while the recruitment of Platou (right) only became known today.
At the forefront for the Nordic region is Nordic Market Lead Gustav Buder, who has been visible in the efforts to position Bybit EU and payment cards in the region. Under Buder's leadership, a distinct Nordic team is now being built, with responsibility for growth, relationships and local anchoring.
A key player is David Leeb, who has stepped into the role of “Marketing & Growth Leader” with responsibility for market and growth in the Nordic region. Coming from the role of Chief Marketing Officer of Swedish Safello, Leeb brings experience from building a regulated, Nordic-targeted crypto brand into Bybit.
The most recent recruit is Jan Platou, who now steps in as relationship manager for the Nordic region with special responsibility for strategic development of Norway together with Buder and the rest of the team. Platou comes from the position of Head of Sales at Norwegian K33, bringing Bybit a clear institutional and investor perspective to the venture. Platou has also previously worked in Volven Broker, which today is known as TÝR Markets.
Until now, many Nordic crypto recruitments have been about people making the leap from traditional finance and business roles into crypto — such as when Christian Etholm moved from retail chain Jernia to the role of Head of Marketing at Firi. It is therefore a relatively new phenomenon that players like Bybit are now quite offensively sourcing key people directly from competitors in crypto, as is the case with former Safello‑CMO Leeb and former K33‑sales executive Platou.
This shift points to a more mature industry, where experienced crypto profiles move between players and bring domain knowledge, networks and best practices — just as seen in more established financial and technology markets.
At the same time, a dedicated Nordic marketing team is being built around Leeb and Platou, consisting of Robin Karlsson, Tyra Holmberg and William Petersen.
