Bradley Duke (photo), Managing Director and Head of Europe at Bitwise, says the partnership is about finding complementary strengths to meet institutional clients' varying investment needs.

"In Alfakraft, we have found the right partner to help us deliver innovation within Europe to the discerning institutional investor, with the requisite governance and risk management firmly in place," says Duke.

Bitwise is a global asset manager specializing in digital assets, with more than $11 billion in client assets from advisors, family offices and institutional investors. Alfakraft Fonder is an independent Swedish asset manager with roots dating back to 1998, managing both UCITS and alternative investment funds through operations in Sweden and Luxembourg. The partnership comes as European regulatory frameworks for digital assets continue to mature, opening up a broader range of regulated products aimed at institutional players.

Target group: Pension funds and insurers

The partnership targets long-term institutional investors with obligations to meet over time — such as pension funds, insurers and foundations. The products will be structured as regulated funds in Luxembourg, combining Alfakraft's experience in fund management and portfolio management with Bitwise's research and product expertise in digital assets.

Alfakraft: The right timing for the partnership

Madeleine Pulk, CEO of Alfakraft Fonder, points to the timing as important at a moment when institutional interest in digital assets is developing rapidly.

"By combining our respective areas of expertise within well-established Luxembourg fund structures and institutional-grade infrastructure, we believe we can offer well-regulated investment solutions tailored to institutional investors' needs across Europe," says Pulk.

Next steps depend on regulatory approval

Beyond product development itself, the partnership will also include investor education, market insight and business development. The first concrete investment initiatives are expected to follow once the necessary regulatory processes have been completed — meaning it is not yet clear exactly when the first products will launch or what form they will take.
