Bitcoin Suisse was founded in Zug in 2013. In June, subsidiary Bitcoin Suisse (Europe) AG received a CASP licence under MiCA from Liechtenstein's financial regulator FMA, granting access to serve customers across the EEA without separate national approvals. The Nordics became the first market the company named in August, when Ammy Edberg and Kristoffer Nystrom joined as general managers at Bitcoin Suisse (Europe) AG.

The launch comes ahead of the Stockholm gathering

According to Edberg, Bitcoin Suisse (Europe) AG is launching its Nordic operations within the next week. The formal gathering comes only on 19 November, in Bank Hotel's historic vault La Voûte in Stockholm. There, CEO Roman Przibylla and Head of Research Dominic Weibel will present their view of the market, followed by a review of Swedish tax treatment of digital assets by tax advisor Pernilla van der Capellen at Aspia.

MiCA is underrated, says Edberg

In a LinkedIn post, Edberg sums up three months of meetings with Swedish and Nordic players.

– MiCA is the most underrated topic in Swedish finance circles. Almost no one can explain it, but everyone gets curious when you mention it. Few realise how regulated the market for digital assets has actually become, Edberg says.

She believes the question institutional players ask has changed.

– Institutions no longer ask whether they should look at bitcoin. They ask how to hold it properly. That's the question asset managers and banks get stuck on – not lack of interest, which is why so few move forward, she says.

Comparing Sweden to Switzerland a decade ago

Edberg believes the Swedish market is demanding, but that this is an argument for entering it.

– Sweden is a tough market for bitcoin. Good – tough markets build durable companies. Switzerland proved the model works more than ten years ago. Sweden doesn't need to reinvent the wheel, just dare to use it, she says.

On the years ahead for the industry, she believes the focus should shift from narratives to the operational.

– The coming years will be about infrastructure, not narratives. Those who solved custody, compliance and reporting early will look prescient in hindsight, she says.
