Ondo Finance Launches Tokenization Platform Providing Global Access to U.S. Stocks and ETFs

Ondo Finance has launched Ondo Global Markets, a platform that gives qualified investors in Asia-Pacific, Europe, Africa and Latin America access to over 100 tokenized U.S. stocks and ETFs on Ethereum, thereby expanding global market access through blockchain technology.

The Ondo Global Markets platform, launched this week, allows international investors to trade tokenized versions of more than 100 U.S. stocks and ETFs on the Ethereum blockchain. The platform opens access to major companies such as Apple and Nvidia, as well as ETFs such as QQQ, by allowing users to mint and redeem tokenized shares backed 1:1 by securities held with brokerages registered in the United States.

Access to US stocks

The launch significantly expands global access to U.S. equities by removing traditional barriers such as geographic restrictions and brokerage account requirements. Investors in Asia-Pacific, Europe, Africa and Latin America can now trade these assets 24/5 directly on the blockchain, taking advantage of quick settlement, fractional ownership and transfer opportunities across wallets and exchanges.

Tokenized stocks on blockchain

Each token is fully backed by the corresponding US security and is held with brokerages regulated in the US, offering financial exposure, price movements, dividends and company decisions without conferring actual shareholder rights. While U.S. persons are excluded under Regulation S, eligible global investors can use these tokens across wallets, exchanges, and DeFi protocols.

Bridging between TradFi and DeFi

Ondo has partnered with companies such as BitGo, Chainlink, Ledger, Alpaca, LayerZero and more to ensure secure custody, price oracles and interoperable access across ecosystems. The integration with Alpaca, a self-dealing US broker, strengthens regulatory compliance and access infrastructure. The tokens behave like stablecoins in DeFi, with automated return strategies and use as collateral, while offering deep liquidity comparable to traditional stock markets.

Ondo aims to scale the offering to over 1,000 tokenized stocks and ETFs by the end of 2025, as well as launch support on Solana, BNB Chain and its own Ondo Chain via LayerZero-powered cross-chain transfers.

Why is this important?

By bringing traditional stocks on-chain, Ondo challenges geographical constraints, limited opening hours and high entry thresholds. Non-US retail and institutional investors can now access liquid, financially supported US markets via programmable, decentralised funding channels. As tokenization gains increased penetration, Ondo's regulatory alignment, institutional support and multi-chain ambitions could position the company as a key bridge in the financial system of the future.
