Firi bets on Sweden — with an eye on the rest of Europe

Firi and CEO Thuc Hoang set their sights on Sweden as the first step in an international venture. The company has applied for a position as Country Manager in Sweden, and Hoang confirms in an interview with Kaupr its ambitions for growth in the Nordic region and Europe.

Clear frameworks

Norwegian crypto exchange Firi opened its first overseas office in Denmark in 2022, and announced a few years ago that they would also establish themselves in Sweden. However, this establishment has been waiting for itself. Meanwhile, Firi has managed to turn negative results into solid profits. In parallel, Europe and Norway have introduced clear regulations for cryptocurrency through MiCA (Market in Crypto Assets Regulations), providing a clearer and safer framework for the industry. The regulations contribute to more uniform requirements and increased confidence in the market, which lays a solid foundation for further growth and international expansion for Firi and other players.

The time has come for Sweden

Now Firi and CEO Thuc Hoang obviously believe that the time has come to invest in Sweden. In the Swedish job advertisement, the company writes:

“Now we are establishing ourselves in Sweden and are therefore looking for a Country Manager who will adapt and manage the company's strategies and framework for the Swedish market and help build a stable business locally.”

The role involves leading the establishment with full results and balance sheet responsibilities, developing and executing local strategy, building relationships and ensuring collaboration across the organisation. The company is seeking an executive with a background in economics or finance, experience from the regulated financial sector and business development, solid knowledge of Swedish regulations and strong relationship and communication skills in Swedish and English.

Will grow in Europe

Kaupr has also recently interviewed Thuc Hoang, where he explains why it was right to wait with the Sweden creation until now. In the interview, Hoang confirms that Firi, with good profitability and the MICA regulations behind it, is now ready to invest internationally — not only in the Nordic countries, but also in the rest of Europe.

“I can confirm that we are looking outside the Nordics”, says Hoang in the interview.
