Crypto exchanges Trijo and Northcrypto merge

Swedish crypto exchange Trijo and Finnish Northcrypto merge. Swedish crypto exchange Trijo, through its parent company GreenMerc, buys 100% of the shares in Northcrypto. According to a press release, this acquisition makes GreenMerc the largest player in the Swedish crypto market.

In the first half of 2024, the two companies had a combined turnover of SEK 494 million, distributed with SEK 278 million at Northcrypto and SEK 218 million at GreenMerc/Trijo. According to the press release, GreenMerc has previously held a leading position both functionally and in terms of results, and this acquisition means that the company now also has the largest turnover in the crypto sector in Sweden.

GreenMerc AB became listed on the Swedish stock exchange Nordic SME in June this year after an IPO. The company raised close to SEK 20 million, based on a pricing of approximately SEK 160 million. The crypto exchange Trijo was formerly part of Arcario, but was sold off by the Norwegian-controlled holding company in August 3022. After further adjustments, Arcario is today 100% focused on the crypto broker K33.

Increased Nordic competition

GreenMerc and Trijo's Swedish competitor Safello also on Friday came out with their Third Quarter Report, The company also announced an ambition to Expand outside of Sweden.
